LF AI & Data Announces Three New Sandbox Projects

By December 14, 2022No Comments

LF AI & Data Foundation – the organization building an ecosystem to support and sustain open source innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and data open source projects – is announcing three new Sandbox Projects; Elyra, CLAIMED, and Xtreme1 to their portfolio of projects.

Donated by IBM, Elyra is an open-source low-code/no-code framework for creating reproducible, scalable, and component based data science pipelines. It allows senior data scientists to create reusable components easily. Citizen data scientists can reuse their code without programming skills. MLOps engineers are provided with tested and maintainable deliverables, and scale on Kubeflow, Airflow and others. Elyra allows for consumption of existing LF AI projects in a streamlined manner, using projects such as MLXchange and ART, in a stable and reproducible way.

CLAIMED (Component Library for AI, Machine Learning, ETL and Data Science)  is a runtime and programming language agnostic Data & AI component framework abstracting away all complexity for advanced MLOps and TrustedAI. Donated by the IBM Center for Open Source Data and AI Technologies, the project aims to democratize Data & AI by providing empowerment for Data Scientists to take on MLOps and TrustedAI, as well as Citizen Data Scientists to to use no-code/low-code tooling.

Xtreme1 is the next-generation open-source platform for multisensory training data. Led by BasicAI, Xtreme1 accelerates AI modeling with advanced AI-assisted annotation tools, data curation and visualization features. The complexity of data multimodality, annotation scheme, workflow, governance and model integration, is streamlined by Xtreme1. The donation of this project will fill in the blanks of data visualization and annotation on the LF AI & Data landscape.

LF AI & Data supports projects via a wide range of services, and the first step is joining as a hosted Project. Learn more about these projects on their GitHub repositories and join their respective Announce Mailing Lists and Technical Mailing Lists, listed below.

We’re extending a warm welcome to these new projects! We look forward to their continued growth and success as part of the LF AI & Data Foundation. To learn about how to host an open source project with us, visit the LF AI & Data website.
