In 2024, LF AI & Data launched TAC Talks, a biweekly live webinar series where we dive deep into the unique projects under the LF AI & Data umbrella. Hosted by Vini Jaiswal, TAC Chair, these 45-minute sessions offer participants a unique opportunity to learn directly from project leaders and ask their questions live.

TAC Talks: Elyra
Elyra simplifies building and managing AI pipelines by integrating seamlessly with tools like Jupyter Notebooks. During this session, the Elyra team demonstrated its ability to streamline pipeline automation and empower data scientists with tools for more efficient workflows. Participants gained valuable insights into how Elyra supports reproducible AI development and fosters collaboration.
TAC Talks: CLAIMED
CLAIMED leverages advanced AI to enhance metadata discovery and curation, addressing challenges in data understanding and management. This session explored how CLAIMED accelerates data discovery processes, enriches metadata quality, and fosters collaboration across diverse industries. Real-world examples illustrated its role in streamlining workflows and improving operational efficiency.
TAC Talks: Delta Lake
Delta Lake combines the strengths of data lakes and databases to ensure data reliability, consistency, and scalability. This session detailed its evolution from “Project Tahoe” to a Lakehouse format, emphasizing innovations like deletion vectors and Change Data Feed (CDF). The presenters showcased Delta Lake’s seamless AI integration with Rust APIs and Python bindings and demonstrated practical features such as time travel and transaction log commits. These capabilities highlighted its critical role in modern data engineering and large-scale AI workloads.
TAC Talks: Milvus
Milvus, an open-source vector database designed for AI applications, supports diverse workloads such as similarity search and multimodal search across text, images, audio, and video. This session covered its modular architecture, GPU acceleration, and compatibility with tools like Apache Spark and Kafka. Participants learned about its practical applications, including recommender systems and anomaly detection, and how its community-driven development fosters innovation and accessibility.
TAC Talks: Egeria
Egeria focuses on open metadata and governance, providing tools to connect diverse data systems and teams. This session highlighted its collaborative architecture and modular design, which enable seamless integration across platforms ranging from small-scale devices to enterprise cloud environments. Real-world use cases for personas like data scientists and legal professionals illustrated how Egeria addresses challenges like regulatory compliance and metadata synchronization, fostering more effective collaboration and governance.
