Context Intelligence Work Group

The Context Intelligence Work Group is a collaborative initiative within LF AI & Data aimed at connecting disparate projects (both LF AI specific and external to LF AI) so they can work together more effectively around AI applications. The core insight driving the group is that “context” — organizational knowledge, decisions, relationships, and technical metadata — needs to flow seamlessly between the systems and tools that produce it and those that need it. Individual projects may contribute pieces of this puzzle, but there’s currently no easy way for users to discover how they fit together or build integrated solutions from them.

The workgroup’s practical mission is to define meaningful cross-project use cases and scenarios (building on early work in the ML LLM Ops Work Group), produce content that helps people navigate the ecosystem, and drive conversations with users that inform ongoing development. Beyond the technical work, the group recognizes the need for a marketing strategy to make the value of these integrations visible. The underlying philosophy — drawn from the Egeria project at its core — is that centralized or vendor-locked approaches to metadata and context have repeatedly failed, and that a peer-to-peer, open, real-time model of knowledge exchange is what the industry actually needs.

The group meets biweekly at 10am on Tuesdays, 8am US Pacific/11am US Eastern. Those who are interested can register here.
