As 2022 ends, we are grateful to welcome five new members to the LF AI & Data Foundation. Beijing Primitive Technology (PrimiHub), FuriosaAI, and JinaAI have joined as General members, with BAAI and Ersilia Open Source Initiative joining as Associate members.
The LF AI & Data Foundation builds and supports an open community and growing ecosystem of open source artificial intelligence (AI) and data by accelerating development and innovation, enabling collaboration, and creating new opportunities for all the members of the community.

Beijing Primitive Technology has developed an enterprise-level, open source privacy computing platform product, PrimiHub. PrimiHub has demonstrated use cases across many sectors such as finance, industry, government, the Internet of Things, and medicine. They have also partnered with many well-known companies in strategic collaborations. This, combined with established strategic partnerships with academia and industry, has allowed Beijing Primitive to carry out in-depth cooperative research in the fields of privacy computing, data elementization, and blockchain technology.
FuriosaAI is a next-generation semiconductor company. Their aim is to accelerate AI models with the potential to become core components of current and future, hyperscaler, and enterprise applications. FuriosaAI provides peak performance while achieving energy efficiency, enabling the lowest operation cost at scale. Furiosa AI builds upon a robust core foundation meant for addressing the complex and rapidly-changing requirement metrics of hyperscalers and enterprises. The strength of FuriosaAI comes from this foundation. Tenets such as constant innovation, evolving vision, and a principle of strong engineering are at the core of their approach.
Jina AI is a neural search company that provides cloud-native neural search solutions powered by AI and deep learning. It provides an open-source neural search ecosystem for businesses and developers, enabling everyone to search for information in all kinds of data with high availability and scalability.Founded in Feb. 2020, Jina AI raised $37.5M in 20 months and is now now a global team of 52 with four offices. It has been named as one of the high-potential AI startups in the world, and has been featured on Forbes DACH AI30 2020, as well as CBInsights AI 100 2021 & 2022.

BAAI, the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, is a collaboration between research and industry – bringing together top international artificial intelligence scholars with a focus on core technologies and original innovations, all with the aim of promoting the field of artificial intelligence The five sources of innovation are development policy, academic thinking, theoretical foundation, top talents, and industrial ecology. BAAI is a system-based innovation-driven research institute that is committed to building an efficient and dynamic AI research and development platform – uniting everyone to do great things.
The Ersilia Open Source Initiative is a tech non-profit organization supporting research against infectious and neglected diseases in low-income countries. Their team merges expertise in chemistry, molecular biology, and computational pharmacology with a natural enthusiasm for global health. Employing a unique approach to the issue, Ersilia works by eliminating barriers and focusing on leadership in local institutions, while striving to ensure knowledge transfer and project continuity. Ersilia believes that open-source science is a means to generate low-revenue drugs and thus contribute to a more egalitarian world.
